There is quite a big difference between the I Am Legend movie and The Island movie: I Am Legend did not plagiarize.

The movie Last Man on Earth was an adaptation in the 60's of the novella (from the 50's) named I Am Legend. Apparently that novella has inspired several movies (the two just named plus The Omega Man from the 70's), only the latest of which actually shares its name.

I, like many others I'd imagine, saw the Clonus Horror first on Mystery Science Theater 3000. It was one of the first times I actually enjoyed the movie itself almost as much as the commentary. For an MST3K flick, it really wasn't bad.

I haven't seen the Island yet but have no real interest, especially after reading this. It is sad to think that the Clonus Horror is the one one that took the harder edge on the issue but it appears to be the case.

Seems to be happening a great deal lately though. Look at I Am Legend vs. Last Man on Earth.

Great post and comparison by the way!
