A fair number of UMD students do that (the hip ones, anyway, hehe). I'm pretty much happy as long as there are no apparent signs of rodents and there is free internet. They put me up at the Quality Inn when I came for my own special Cadillac visit day. It is not THAT bad. I know a prof who commutes from Boston and uses it as an apartment. Hey, it's right next to campus and it's got housekeeping and it's cheap if you buy in bulk. Breakfast not bad too. We actually have a Marriott on campus but it is full, apparently, as we just tried to put up a large group of visiting faculty there. No go. Aside from that, Silver Spring is much easier as the other hotels aren't really walking distance. Or they are maybe for me and you, but not for everyone. Silver Spring's got teh Metro. Anytime someone spells Quality with a Kw, you know that quality has nothing to do with it, so I'm glad too. :) I was wondering why we were so far away given that there were closer places. I have discovered your blog! Yes, that is indeed Downtown Silver Spring. I am glad that they are putting you up there and not at the Kwality Inn in College Park, although that is more convenient. I go to that Whole Foods to buy cheese, as most American grocery stores do not have good cheese selections other than trendy yuppie places. Ah ha! I have discovered your blog!
